Minister of State for Capital Administration and Development Barrister Usman Ibrahim chaired the first meeting of the Literacy Cell of FDE at the CADD on Thursday.
A literacy cell was formed at FDE earlier in August on the directives of the minister in order to improve the enrolment rate and decrease the dropout rate in schools.
Literacy Cell is headed by the FDE director general and has director literacy, deputy director literacy, assistant, assistant education officer, and inspectors (evaluation) as members. “Our target is the 27,236 children at primary level who are out of school at the moment,” said the state minister.
He added that a special campaign would be started right after Eidul Azha in order to make the parents and students aware of the importance of getting proper education.”
The minister said coordination among all the stakeholders including ICT, CDA, private sector, formal system, non-formal system, ‘madrassas’, and special education sector is very important in this regard.
“We have asked the private sector to ensure 10 per cent enrolment of disadvantaged children for free education in April/May session as per the provision of act,” he said.
The minister said enrolment of students aged between 5-9 years would be ensured in formal system and those illiterate children who are above 9 year would be enrolled in non-formal system (Adult Literacy System).

It has been desired that a complete report on the damages caused to your institution by the police personnel during their stay in your school/college may be furnished to Director (Admin & Finance) office so that matter may be taken up with ICT Administration for Seeking Compensation cost to be incurred on the recovery of lost/damages caused to your school/Colleges. It would be more appropriate if snaps of the broken Items, classrooms, washrooms etc and slogans written on walls may be attached with the reports as evidence please.

personal hearing before the Deputy Director (Schools-Female) within 07
days (Till September 05, 2014) at FDE (HQ), otherwise further necessary
